When dining sales soften, every order has to work harder. A smooth pickup, an accurate payment and a reward customers understand can all help a cafe or restaurant earn another visit. For Singapore F&B operators, this week's industry news makes that connected customer journey especially relevant.
Rewardly brings three parts of that journey together: CommerceOS for selling and fulfilment, LoyaltyOS for membership and rewards, and PaymentOS for checkout and payment records. Here is how to use those capabilities around the challenges in the latest figures.
What this week's Singapore F&B figures tell us
The Singapore Department of Statistics' release on 5 October 2026 reported that F&B sales fell 1.6% year on year in August 2026. Sales improved 1.5% from July on a seasonally adjusted basis, but performance differed across segments. These are August sales figures published this week, rather than a measure of October trading.
| Segment | Year-on-year change |
|---|---|
| All F&B services | −1.6% |
| Cafes | −5.3% |
| Restaurants | −2.1% |
| Fast food outlets | +7.8% |

The Restaurant Association of Singapore's 6 October analysis also reported that online orders represented 20.6% of F&B sales. It highlighted the importance of checking delivery commissions, packaging costs and menu pricing. The index excludes individual stalls in hawker centres, food courts and coffee shops, so use your own outlet figures when planning a response.
For an operator, a useful next step is to connect convenience with customer retention. Make ordering straightforward, give customers a relevant reason to return, and understand what remains after payment fees and reward costs.
CommerceOS: make ordering easier across channels
A customer may discover your cafe online, collect a takeaway order today and dine in next week. CommerceOS supports that mix through point of sale, QR ordering, self-ordering kiosks and supported online ordering workflows. A kitchen display system helps the team manage fulfilment.
For a cafe balancing walk-ins and pickups, the practical benefit is a clearer path from the order to preparation and collection. Configure the menu, product options and order modes around how your team actually serves customers. Test a busy service before expanding to more channels.
If you want a direct ordering presence, Rewardly's branded F&B eCommerce websites can be scoped around your domain, outlets and Rewardly workflow. Compare the costs and responsibilities of direct ordering with your marketplace channels; confirm each integration and the loyalty experience supported on that channel.
LoyaltyOS: make the next visit worth planning
A reward works best when customers understand how to earn it and when to use it. LoyaltyOS offers loyalty points, digital stamps, vouchers and membership tiers, alongside options such as store credit, cashback and referral programmes.
For a neighbourhood cafe, a simple stamp journey may fit frequent coffee purchases. A restaurant might use a voucher with clear redemption terms for a future meal. These are programme ideas: choose the qualifying products, member eligibility, reward value and validity before launch.
Rewardly supports automatic stamp issuance from qualifying POS transactions, with configurable completion rewards and repeat cycles. Confirm refund handling and how customers identify themselves in your setup. Start with a benefit your staff can explain in one sentence, then review participation and return purchases before adding complexity.

PaymentOS: connect checkout with the order
Payments and customer engagement were also in the news this week. In its 6 October Singapore announcement, Pine Labs described a platform combining payment acceptance and customer engagement. This is a vendor announcement; it signals an integration approach rather than evidence of merchant results or a Rewardly partnership.
Rewardly's PaymentOS covers supported card terminals, QR and wallet payments, split bills and payment reports. With a compatible integrated terminal, the POS can send the amount due into checkout, reducing repeated entry and helping the team review payments alongside the sale.
For example, a restaurant serving groups can plan its split-bill workflow, while a cafe can review payments by tender at closing. Confirm the enabled methods, terminal compatibility, fees, refund process and settlement schedule during onboarding. A manual PayNow tender and an integrated PayNow service have different verification workflows; demonstrate the one your staff will use.

Example: turn a first pickup into a return visit
Consider a cafe introducing a weekday coffee stamp programme. This is an illustrative workflow, not a customer case study or a live promotion.
- Capture the order. Use CommerceOS for the customer's supported ordering channel and keep preparation and collection clear.
- Connect the member. Attach the member using the configured identification process, so eligible purchases can contribute to the programme.
- Complete checkout. Use the approved PaymentOS method and follow its confirmation process before treating the bill as paid.
- Show the next step. Explain the LoyaltyOS stamp target, completion benefit and redemption terms, so the customer knows what a future visit can unlock.
Test the full flow with a qualifying sale, a non-qualifying item, reward redemption and a refund. That exercise shows whether the menu rules, reward rules and payment handling work together before customers encounter them.
Review the return visit, not just the reward redemption
Use your sales, member and payment records to review a small pilot. Track the share of eligible orders linked to members, the number of those members who purchase again within a defined period, reward costs and payment exceptions. Keep the period and eligibility rules consistent when comparing results.
A redeemed voucher can be encouraging, but review the value of the return purchase after the reward and channel costs. Choose a manageable pilot and use Rewardly reporting alongside your cost records to decide what to refine.

The most useful demonstration is one built around an order your team serves every day.
